What Designs Does the MacBook Pro Come In? The MacBook Pro is available in two different designs, one slightly smaller than the other. The first option is a 13-inch display that weighs in at 3 pounds and is 14.9 millimeters thick. The other is a 15-inch display that weighs 4 pounds and is 15.5 millimeters thick. Trade-in value based on 2019 15-inch MacBook Pro. Trade-in value will vary based on the condition, year, and configuration of your trade-in device. You must be at least 18 years old to be eligible to trade in for credit or for an Apple Store Gift Card. Not all devices are eligible for credit.
The MacBook Pro is a line of Macintosh portable computers introduced in January 2006, by Apple Inc. It is the higher-end model of the MacBook family, sitting above the consumer-focused MacBook Air, and is sold with 13- and 16-inch screens.A 17-inch version was sold from April 2006 to June 2012. The first-generation MacBook Pro used the design of the PowerBook G4, but replaced the PowerPC G4.
If you don't have your Mac or it doesn't start up, use one of these solutions instead:
Find the serial number printed on the underside of your Mac, near the regulatory markings. It's also on the original packaging, next to a barcode label. You can then enter that serial number on the Check Coverage page to find your model.
The original packaging might also show an Apple part number, such as MLH12xx/A ('xx' is a variable that differs by country or region). You can match the Apple part number to one in the list below to find your model.

Over the last 14 years since they have been around, Apple has released many different versions of the MacBook Pro and if you've had yours for a while, you might not even know when it was made. There are several different reasons why you'd want to know the year of your MacBook Pro which we'll look at shortly. It's really pretty easy to figure this out and shouldn't take you long at all if you're curious.
Why Does the Year of Your MacBook Pro Matter?There are a few different reasons why you might want to find out how old your MacBook Pro is or what year it was produced. It's not at all hard to figure out the year and we will go through the steps to figure out exactly what year it was made below, but first let's look at why you might want to know the year.
First, you might just be curious. Similar to a car or other large item you purchase, knowing the year is simply a common part of ownership. Some people just like to know what year their purchases were made so they know that basic information and can reference it for any reason, if needed.
Another reason could be that you are looking to update your computer, either by purchasing a newer one or updating the operating system.
If you are thinking of updating your entire computer to a new model, knowing the year of your old one might convince you to make the purchase or stop you from shelling out the cash for a few more years. If your current MacBook Pro is 5 or more years old, you might want to consider an upgrade for the added features and benefits that newer technologies afford. A brand new computer will usually be faster and have better performance in other ways as well.

Laptops made in the year 2012 or before are actually not compatible with the latest macOS Catalina.
